i write again

when i was young
i found
that poetry
came from pain,
so i stopped writing.

now i know that pain comes anyway,
and so i write.

How true...
At some point I forced myself to write about "nothing" - have you tried??

Hmmm. Yes. You're quite right. It's lovely.

Natalie, Are you talking about stream of consciousness? I have a hard time w/ that.

Thanks, Charli.

For me, writing can be painful, but usually, in the end it is quite healing for me. It kind of gets it all out so I can move on by letting go and/or seeking help. I love it.

Writing is definitely healing for me too. Did u know there is a such thing as poetry therapy? That would be intriguing to try.

Oh yes, wise words borne of experience. I remember those 'young' years in poetry writing, frankly with a dour grimace. But even then I was aware that I had to get all the raw stuff out and on paper before the fine-tuning/polishing could get under way. Like spring-cleaning the mind, the soul, the heart, all at the same time, making space, making way for clarity and creativity. ;) Thank God for progress, for maturity.

"spring-cleaning the mind, the soul, the heart, all at the same time, making space, making way for clarity and creativity." I like that. That is what writing does.

"Thank God for progress, for maturity." Amen!
