Searching for Words

As the waters of the everyday
lap, and sometimes crash,
onto the shores of my life,
they erase the words
written with careful fingers
over the decades.

I gesticulate wildly
more often now,
trying to fish out the right word
or any word, really
to effectively communicate
what just might disappear
like an aging dandelion
before I can capture it.

those words that were once placed, are now words we designate : "left behind".
great job my dear. I like what I have read thus far.

You're right, though--it's definitely not done yet, is it?

This is a beautiful poem. My favorite line is, "lap, and sometimes crash." I think that describes beautifully how life appears differently at time. That is a line I can truly feel and experience by reading the words you have chosen. The entire poem is awesome.
