Christmas Trip

The heady
scent of pine
brings me
racing back

(on metal
roller skates),

to the days
of black and white;

shiny tinsel,
hung on a tree,

six-foot
and Charlie Brown,

to leave room
for heirloom ornaments

that still sit
in my mother's attic
wrapped in
newspaper
with prices
that are
way
out of date.

Fantastic detail, especially at the end (the out of date prices). Those things do stick in the mind. Beautiful work.

The details, carefully chosen, have effectively brought to the fore a December scene of the past. ;) The black-to-dark-to-light-grey effect of the last line is a touch of genius; now there's a contribution from the digital world (grin).
